Harlech Castle sits atop a rocky crag, close to the Irish Sea. It over looks the dunes below and out to Snowdonia. It was built by Edward I between 1282 and 1289. Today the inner walls and towers are still standing at almost their original height. It is one of the finest examples of medieval architecture.
