Black cab taxis, also known as a Hackney carriage, are iconic throughout London. They are the only taxis that you can hail from the side of the road. In order to drive a black cab taxi, drivers have to pass a test called The Knowledge. This is to demonstrate that drivers know London’s street geography and important landmarks.
